The sacrifices of military men and women, as well as those of their families, were honored at a special ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 8, in Grand Hall at the Reynolds Center at Southern Arkansas University.

Focusing on helping homeless Veterans and promoting active lifestyles, the 7th Annual VA2K Walk & Roll event will kick off on May 17, 2017 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA., according to a press release.

The Shreveport Vet Center/Mobile Vet Center will be in Texarkana for an Outreach Event from 10AM - 2PM on Saturday, January  7, 2017.  The event will be held at Whisky River Harley Davidson, 802 Walton Drive.

Veterans Day is November 11 and many of America's restaurant chains and other businesses are saying "thank you" for the endless sacrifice that many of our men and women in uniform have made and continue to make to keep our country safe and free by providing free or reduced cost meals.

In honor of Veterans Day, Texarkana College encourages all veterans and military families interested in earning a higher education degree or certificate to learn more about how TC’s Veterans Services can help them achieve their goals.

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Veterans Services office and Student Veterans Association will celebrate “More than Just a Day” during the week of November 7-11 in honor of the nation’s veterans and active-duty military.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, including the VA Outpatient Clinics in Monroe, Louisiana; Texarkana, Arkansas; and Longview, Texas will offer flu shots to enrolled Veterans during scheduled clinic appointments and in special walk-in flu shot clinics as outlined below. There is no charge for the flu shot and Veterans are reminded to bring their VA identification card.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) will host a Town Hall and outreach event on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5-6PM at the Holiday Inn Arkansas Convention Center, Magnolia Room, 5200 Convention Plaza Drive, Texarkana, Ark., 71854.

The 20th Annual Veterans Information Fair is coming up in Texarkana on Armed Forces Day, which is Saturday, May 21.

A town hall meeting for area veterans is coming up soon in Shreveport, La.

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton says his office is busy providing services to Arkansas’ military veterans.

Veterans Day is always observed on Nov. 11 with speeches and parades across the U.S. The holiday began as Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. There are several events planned for the Texarkana area on Wednesday Nov. 11, to honor our local veterans.
