The 4 Deadliest Spiders in Arkansas That Could Kill You
Did you know 546 different species of spiders call Arkansas their home? Nothing to worry about right? Unless they're toxic!
Would you be able to determine which ones are dangerous? Well, a little bit of good news, of all 546 spiders only 4 are deemed deadly. But if you're like me, I don't want to find out by sticking my hand somewhere it doesn't belong. Sure, accidents can happen you could be working out in the yard or cleaning out some closets and a spider bites you. I don't think you gonna turn into Spider-Man.
Let's take a look at the 4 deadliest spiders in Arkansas that could kill you and if it doesn't you are going to wish you were dead.
Southern Black Widow (Latrodectus mactans)
Just the name Black Widow sounds hideous but they're easy to identify because of their red hourglass markings which in my opinion means time is up if you get bitten by one of these spiders. The red dot on their abdomen is also another indication this spider is poisonous but I don't plan on getting close enough to find out. The Black Widow is known for eating their mate after reproduction and that's pretty vindictive if you ask me.
Brown Widow (Latrodectus geometricus)
The brown widow has an orange hourglass that you can identify on its body and its egg sac has multiple silk spicules that stick outward. The bite of a brown widow is not as strong as a black widow but its venom is still toxic as hell.
Northern Black Widow (Latrodectus variolus)
This spider is more of a trickster because it has spots an hourglass that you can't quite make out what it is and white markings on its abdomen. The Northern Black Widow's population is eerie similar to the black widow, infants and elderly people are most likely to die if bitten by this species.
Brown Recluse (Loxosceles reclusa)
These spiders also known as fiddle-back because of their markings are a more common household spider and are considered the most dangerous spiders in Arkansas. They usually like to hide in dark corners and crevices. If bitten by one of these spiders they can severely damage your skin even causing kidney failure in some cases leading to death.
The best advice if you get bitten by any of the spiders is to seek medical attention as soon as possible. And, that's why I don't like spiders.
