Three Arkansas State University students are missing today reportedly in a cave in Northeastern Arkansas.

The students were reported missing early Thursday morning in the Blowing Cave located in Cushman, Ark . in Independence County. The County Coordinator Glen Willis reported the search for three missing persons at 1:45 a.m. Those missing persons have been identified as Arkansas State University students – two of which are Japanese foreign exchange students.

At this time crews from Lyon College in Batesville, Calico Rock Fire Department and the Melbourne Fire Department are assisting the rescue mission and additional search and rescue volunteer teams are en route from Little Rock.

Crews have been coordinating their efforts have say they have reached nearly three quarters of a mile back into the cave, without any sign of the missing students.

Information on the search is being dissiminated by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management based in Little Rock.
