Tyler Farr's wedding day was no doubt a very special occasion, but Brad Paisley made the day even more memorable — the superstar sang his new single "Today" for the newlyweds' first dance!

Farr married his longtime girlfriend, Hannah Freeman in Nolensville, Tenn., on Monday (Oct. 10), and the singer tells People his bride suggested he write a song for their first dance.

“I’ve written a ton of songs about her but she wanted one for our wedding,” Farr recalls. “My buddy Lee Brice wrote ‘I Don’t Dance’ for his own wedding — the perfect wedding first dance song! — and I could not live up to that expectation.”

Farr struggled to write a song all summer while opening for Paisley. A week before his wedding, Paisley showed him a clip of the video for his new single "Today," and Farr was moved to tears.

“I was on his bus and he showed me the video and I just teared up,” Farr admits. “I’m very blunt and I was like, ‘That song was amazing and I want to surprise my fiancée with something really special. Would you come and play this song for our first dance?'”

Paisley was more than happy to oblige, which meant Farr was able to pull off a monumental surprise when the couple entered their reception at Mint Springs Farm and the "Today" singer was at a microphone stand with his guitar.

“She had no idea,” Farr reveals. “It was so cool of Brad to take the time to do that. He’s a good friend and a great guy."
