It really is hard to believe but mega superstar Garth Brooks finally hit the 50 mark yesterday (2/6) celebrating his 5oth birthday. Garth remains one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, second only to Elvis Presley, according to the RIAA.

Garth was in Indianapolis over Super Bowl weekend as a volunteer to help the Starkey Hearing Foundation give the gift of hearing to over 250 adults and children who are hearing impaired. Garth helped deliver digital, custom-made hearing aids along with several NFL stars.

I can still remember when Garth came to Texarkana many years ago at the beginning of his young career. The radio station I was working for at the time, did a contest where you  could win dinner with Garth and the band. The dinner was held at Cadillac's on New Boston Road and the concert was later that night at the Pine's Country Club which is now the Electric Cowboy. I remember at that time Garth only had one or two hits under his belt and he went around to all the tables introducing himself. Who would of thought, that he would go on to become one of country music's biggest stars.

Did you go see Garth when he was here?
