Human Trafficking is real and it exists everywhere, in every state, yes even in Arkansas. The Arkansas Human Trafficking Council (AHTC) earlier this month to start implementing new human trafficking identification tools. These tools will help in supporting victims of human trafficking and also help in the effort to prevent human trafficking and to prosecute human traffickers.

They also adopted and set into place new law enforcement policies, procedures, and protocols.

The New ID Tools Have a Three-Level Approach

The tools may be viewed HERE.

1. Rapid Assessment - 8 questions or less to quickly identify victims.

2. In-Depth Background Assessment - This could be done with someone who knows the victim's background and behavior. This way authories might see any red flags without even interviewing the possible victim.

3. Comprehensive Assessment for Interviewing Victims - This is a comprehensive assessment to directly interact with the possible victim and allow them to disclose information in a private, safe, confidential manner.

There is also now a Human Trafficking Coordinated Response Hub for support services, resources for local law enforcement, and to protect victims.
