Robert Haley came in Wednesday morning to tell us more about the Bowie County 4H Pistol Club and 4H Raffle.

Texas school age youth from 3rd through 12th grade are eligible to sign up starting this Saturday, August 1. Plus their parents might be interested in grabbing the last remaining tickets for the 4H Raffle.

The first meeting is coming up on Saturday, August 29 at 9 a.m. at the Marine Reserve Station located at 2515 College Dr. The meeting will include hot dogs, airsoft steel challenge and prizes.

  • As a 4H Pistol Club members you will learn;
  • Handgun safety
  • Master handgun shooting skills
  • Shoot SCSA Steel Challenge using .22 semi-auto handguns
  • Compete in tournaments
  • Win prizes for top shooter!

You can sign up your student for this program in person at the Bowie County Extension Office located in the Bowie County Courthouse in New Boston or create an account on the website Texas.4Honline.com and be sure you select Pistol Club.

Be sure to like them on Facebook!

For more information please contact Head Pistol Coach - Robert Haley at 903-809-9331.

Now for the raffle: It's a 52 gun raffle, as soon as all the tickets are sold the weekly drawings will begin and run for 52 weeks. A different gun will be given away each week. Even if you win, your ticket goes back into the pot and is eligible to be drawn again. They have less than 240 tickets left of the 1000 total and they are planning on setting up a booth in New Boston for their Pioneer Days Festival that runs August 12 - 15.

Robert says he ran the numbers and if his math is right you have a 1 in 19 chance of winning with just 1 ticket. Pretty good odds.

Call Robert at the number above if you need more information or would like to purchase a ticket before then. The 4H Raffle benefits all of the Bowie County 4H programs by the way, not just the Pistol Club.

On a side note, judging by the selfie we took with Robert, we really need to do something about of those awful lights in the control room. Bleh!
