People in the resort town of Hot Springs are baffled after a local fisherman using sonar technology discovered a rather large mysterious object submerged underwater on Lake Hamilton.

What is it?

According to an article from Finding Old Cars.com, it appears from sonar imaging that the oblong object was buried rather deep in the depths of the lake.

Curiosity got the best of the fisherman so he reached out to an organization called Adventures of Purpose.

This group of expert divers specializes in exploring underwater and looking for missing persons who have often disappeared on lakes whether it be from accidental drownings or by foul play. This cold case investigation is tied in with the disappearance of a local man in 2008 who worked at a car dealership and many believe this may have been his demo car that was never found.

Detecting images underwater with sonar can be very tricky because most of the time the submerged objects have been there for a long time and have become a part of the ecosystem and surrounding habitat. The fishermen told investigators with Adventures with Purpose he believed it was some type of muscle car or classic car.

Divers took the waters of Lake Hamilton with limited visibility to see if the man's prediction was right, what they found was startling.

The vehicle was missing its top and was at first hard to make out what it was because of years of deterioration and rust. One diver believes that it may have been down there for at least 60 years.

Because the vehicle has been there so long it posed no threat to the environment  Divers also speculated that it could also be some type of old military vehicle although sonar detection appears to make it look like a muscle car.

I saw the vehicle and it sort of looked like an old mobster car if you are familiar with the history of Hot Springs, Al Capone and his men were notorious for spending a lot of time in the area trying to elude the law. Could it be that Al Capone had someone done away with in the lake? That was my thought for sure but I guess we will never know.
