Go on a Scavenger Hunt to Win a $50 Gift Card

The Texarkana Parks Department and Silver Star Smokehouse have teamed up to bring you a good old fashioned 'Scavenger Hunt' with your chance to win a $50 gift card.

For those of you who may be getting a little stir crazy from being indoors with all the social distancing, the Parks and Recreation Department would like to encourage you to participate in a scavenger hunt that could win you a $50 gift card from Silver Star Smokehouse.

It's easy to do, just take a photo of items or do what is requested, then post it to Facebook, tagging the Parks Department page. Please submit your post no later than this Friday, May 1, by 5PM. A winner will then be randomly selected from all entries and announced that day.

In no particular order, here's a list of what you need to do.

• Photograph the sunrise or sunset at one of the park lakes
• Walk one of our trails or the boardwalk
• Read a book at a park of your choice
• Photograph an animal, plant, or insect at one of the parks
• Take a selfie with a mural downtown
• Have a picnic in the park of your choice.
• Take a selfie at photographers island downtown in front of the federal building
• Do a yoga pose at Bringle Lake Art ( for directions, enter Bringle Lake Dam into your maps app
