Last year I dropped in on "Good Grief Day" at Hospice of Texarkana to talk with area kids about radio and I handed out some goodies while there. Hospice of Texarkana is celebrating 15 years of helping kids let go of grief. This year, "Good Grief Day" is planned for Friday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the agency's office  at 803 Spruce Street.Any youth in northeast Texas or southwest Arkansas ages 7 to 15 who has lost a loved one due to death, divorce, a parent who is away serving in the military, a parent being incarcerated or if a child has moved and is attending a new school is encouraged to attend. This event is compliments of Hospice of Texarkana, a non-profit organization.

Various activities will teach youth how to express grief in a healthy way, such as through pet therapy, the spider web, creating a memory quilt square and what all the kids look forward at the end of the event, the balloon release. In addition, the organization will provide some very cute animals for kids to pet and take pictures with. Lunch will be also be provided.

Reservations are required to attend "Good Grief Day" and may be made by calling Jessica at 903-794-4263.
