Today's post may be of interest to nobody but me, but Steve is on my mind and I can't think of anything else I'd rather post about. Thursday evening I received word that my good friend and co-worker, Steve Halatyn, had passed away. Those who listen to our show know that from time to time we make jokes about our "crack engineering staff". That would be Steve. He was actually one of the best technical guys you'll ever meet. And one of the nicest guys as well.

I've known and worked with Steve for almost 15 years (give or take a year, I lost count). Wherever my travels have taken me, Steve has always been just a phone call away anytime I needed assistance. We've built studio's together, spent quite a few nights over the years out at transmitter sites and at radio stations trying to get stations back on the air.  The work was hard and the hours were long, but Steve would always keep the mood light and as upbeat as possible.

Steve was one of the nicest people I've ever come in contact with. There were times he would be so tired he could barely put one foot in front of the other, but he would still be smiling and making wise cracks. He was on those people who literally touched everyone he came in contact with. He never met a stranger and he was always upbeat and positive no matter how bad the situation was.

Losing Steve is going to leave a big hole in my life and many others. He was someone you could rely on. Someone you could text or call at all hours of the day or night who would always respond. I learned so much from him and I treasure the times we spent working, talking and laughing together over the years.

Please keep his wife Penny and his family in your prayers.
