Soon the smell of hickory smoke, and some of the best bbq ribs in the Ark-La-Tex will fill the streets of downtown Texarkana with the Big Jake’s BBQ Rib Cook-off, part of the 2012 RailFest scheduled for May 12.

Starting the day off, some of the best cooks in the area will be carefully guarding their secrets as they cook up what they hope will be bbq ribs good enough to win trophies, cash prizes, and the $1,000 grand prize.

There will be something for everyone, with free bounce-houses for the kids, vendors, arts & craft booths, some great food, and a beer garden.

Here is some video from the first Railfest last year

The headliner on the main stage this year is country act Diamond Rio, who will take to the Coors Light stage at 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15, and are available now. Local act Copper Road will open for them at 7 p.m.
