Scotty Boy Wins American Idol [VIDEO]

Season 10 of American Idol came to an end Wednesday night with flashing lights, confetti falling, and standing  tall through it all was the New American Idol Scotty McCreery. The small town 17 year old from Garner, North Carolina, is the newest Idol after a record breaking 122-million votes were cast.A very emotional but thankful Scotty McCreery had a hard time singing his debut single "I Love You This Big". Scotty hugged his family in attendance at the Nokia Theater as he beat out fellow contestant Lauren Alaina to take the American Idol crown. After winning Scotty said "I got to thank the Lord first, he got me here".

Before the results Lauren got to sing " Before He Cheats" with her Idol Carrie Underwood and Scotty joined superstar Tim McGraw for his emotional hit "Live Like You Were Dying" in which I was pleasantly surprised he did a good job.

Other highlights included performances by the top 13 guys and gals from this season, 3rd place contestants Haley Reinhart and the legendary Tony Bennett, Casey Abrams and Jack Black, Tom Jones, Beyoncé, U2 and Idol judge Steven Tyler.

In the end though whether you voted or not, I think Scotty and Lauren will represent America well and continue to carry the torch for country music fans, and Idol fans who embraced these two American teenagers from the start.

Scotty stated he's been with Lauren since day 1 of the auditions and will continue to be together. And Scotty even called  her baby at one point and Lauren was seen kissing him 3 times on the cheek. Might be just good friends, but I think the two are secretly dating.

What do you think? I do think they would make a great couple, but as young as they are, I know they still have a lot of living left to do. Would make a great story for a perfect ending!
