Peoples Bank recently presented Southern Arkansas University with a gift of $50,000 to be placed toward its $500,000 funding commitment to the Peoples Bank Endowed Dean’s Chair in the David F. Rankin College of Business. Dr. Trey Berry, president of SAU, has named Dr. Robin Sronce, dean of the Rankin College of Business, as the first recipient of the endowed dean’s chair.

The Student Government Association at Southern Arkansas University will hold an Opioid Awareness Week, March 11-15, 2019. SAU will be joining 17 other institutions around Arkansas to take on the issue of substance abuse across the state.

Three important members of the Southern Arkansas University family were honored at Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, including a retired teacher alumnus who has gifted more than $2 million to SAU Engineering; an SAU professor since 2001 with a distinguished record of teaching, research and public service; and a Board member who has served multiple appointments and leadership roles since 2009. Registration will be available online starting March 6 for this summer’s fifth-annual Mulerider Kids College (MKC). Registration will also open for the third-annual Mulerider Teen College (MTC).

Southern Arkansas University will host the Annual Southwest Arkansas Regional Science Fair on Friday, March 8, 2019.

Dr. L.B. “Bernie” Daniels, an alumnus of Southern Arkansas University, has been selected as a member of the 2019 Class of the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame.

The Southern Arkansas University 24th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Memorial March and Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019.
