Neha Shrestha, a junior psychology major and international student at Southern Arkansas University, was recently elected Undergraduate Representative for the Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA). She is the first SAU student to have earned this distinction.

New university trap shooting facility will be first of its kind south of Little Rock MAGNOLIA – Southern Arkansas University (SAU) has begun recruiting students for a new trap shooting team in hopes to “Pull!” off another student engagement victory following the successful additions of eSports, bass fishing and disc golf teams.

Southern Arkansas University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, May 3, 2019. A total of 436 candidates for graduation will be recognized in four ceremonies.

Dr. Daniel McDermott, assistant professor of Biology in the College of Science and Engineering at Southern Arkansas University, has secured a $38,000 instrumentation grant from the IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE).

Peoples Bank recently presented Southern Arkansas University with a gift of $50,000 to be placed toward its $500,000 funding commitment to the Peoples Bank Endowed Dean’s Chair in the David F. Rankin College of Business. Dr. Trey Berry, president of SAU, has named Dr. Robin Sronce, dean of the Rankin College of Business, as the first recipient of the endowed dean’s chair.

Cait Light of Spring Hill, Arkansas, was crowned Miss Southern Arkansas University on March 2, 2019, and will compete in the 2019 Miss Arkansas Pageant June 8-16 in Little Rock, Arkansas. While competing at the state level fulfills a lifelong dream of hers, Light said she will be proudest to represent SAU.

The Student Government Association at Southern Arkansas University will hold an Opioid Awareness Week, March 11-15, 2019. SAU will be joining 17 other institutions around Arkansas to take on the issue of substance abuse across the state.

Three important members of the Southern Arkansas University family were honored at Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, including a retired teacher alumnus who has gifted more than $2 million to SAU Engineering; an SAU professor since 2001 with a distinguished record of teaching, research and public service; and a Board member who has served multiple appointments and leadership roles since 2009.
