More teachers will be needed for the increasingly popular Mulerider Kids College (MKC) in 2017, and class proposals are now being accepted for anyone up for the rewarding experience of teaching at one or both of the MKC camps coming next summer.

To submit a class proposal, complete the online form.

Teachers are paid $175 per class, with the option to teach the class up to three different times at each of the two camps, pending enrollment. Teachers’ children will also get to attend MKC for free in 2017.

The proposal deadline is Jan. 16. Classes that have proven popular in previous MKCs are those that are hands-on, innovative and interesting.

“We desire to provide fun, entertaining and creative classes that will encourage a love for learning while also providing new and different educational experiences for area youth,” said Jana Walker, MKC coordinator.

The MKC website lists a number of class topic ideas – including science experiments, robotics, nursing, dance, theatre, art, sewing, culinary, Legos and video games – but the opportunities are endless.

Because enrollment grew from 150 to 250 kids this past summer from the inaugural MKC in 2015, organizers are hosting two camps this year. They will be June 26-29, from 8AM until noon and also at 1-5PM. Children can sign up for one or both camps when registration opens later in the spring. Children and teachers participating in both camps will also be provided lunch.

MKC students will take three 60-minute classes of their choice, per availability. Children will be grouped according to grade: 1st– 2nd, 3rd– 4th and 5th– 6th.

Visit their website for more information and/or to register to be an invaluable MKC volunteer in 2017.
