Texarkana Community Leader has Been Identified as Victim of Homicide
Police have identified the man discovered dead over the weekend as Jimmy Barrios, a local volunteer and leader in the Latino community, and police are investigating this as a homicide.
Police were summoned to a residence at 1415 County Ave. in Texarkana, Ark. just after noon on Saturday after a friend that had stopped by to check on Jimmy noticed something that seemed “out of place” outside the home and the friend called the police. Once inside the residence, officers found the body of 57-year-old Jamie (Jimmy) Barrios.
Autopsy results list the cause of death as “severe head trauma.”
Police report that they know Mr. Barrios visited two night clubs the night before his body was found. Between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. he went to a bar on Realtor Road, and another on East Broad Street. Police are asking for information from anyone that may have seen Mr. Barrios, who he was seen with, or may have spoken to at the clubs.
