Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s Multicultural Association and Alumni Association presents a celebration of Black History Month on Thursday, February 19. The event will showcase TAMU-T Alumni Anita Pickett and live music under the leadership of Ronald Nard, and a poetry reading from recent TAMU-T graduate Alana Briley. The theme for this year’s event is "Remembering the Past While Shaping the Future." Many of the local schools will be attending.

Pickett’s keynote address is titled "It Can Be Done!" She graduated with a BAAS degree in 2005, and then graduated in 2010 with her Master of Science degree, both from A&M-Texarkana. She is currently the Application Specialist for Arkansas High School. The event will be held from 11:30.a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be served.
