Texas singer-songwriter musician Kevin Fowler will be bringing his brand of honky-tonk, hard drivin' good ole' boy country to Shooters this Friday, January 30.

Fowler is excited about the release of the new album "How Country Are Ya?" because he took a couple of years to write and record this album. He launched his own record label and by doing so was able to get back to his artistic roots to write and record the type of CD that fans have come to love and expect from this native Texan.

How Country Are Ya? is Fowler’s seventh studio album, and his first for Kevin Fowler Records, in a joint venture with Nashville’s Thirty Tigers. Steeped in Fowler tradition, a year in the making, the album features 15 fresh tunes (he wrote all of them except for the raucous instrumental “Mousturdonus“). It was produced by Ken Tondre, Fowler’s drummer, at Tondre’s The Compound Recording Studio in Austin.

One of the most potent songs on is “Panhandle Poorboy,” a song that reflects the life and times of this Amarillo, Texan who has come full circle.

Pretty much any city in Texas belongs to Fowler, but he will immediately point out that he is quickly growing in Oklahoma and throughout the Midwest, all the way up to Chicago. In addition, Fowler boasts more than 270,000 Facebook likes and 34,000-plus cool Twitter followers.

When Fowler is not making music he's more than likely fishing or hunting. An avid outdoorsman, Fowler recalls his first hunting trip.

"My dad was a huge bowhunter. I still go bowhunting. That is what we did as a family. We also went on fishing trips every spring break. That made me who I am. It was camping in Colorado, bow hunting in the fall and fishing every spring break."

Now it’s all about the camaraderie of friends, getting away, and the freedom of the outdoors as evidenced below.

In a nutshell, I guess you can say that Fowler is Texas!
