Country Music Legend Merle Haggard is coming to Texarkana this Friday, November 14 at the historic Perot Theatre. The Hag is expected to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. and perform all his biggest hits. Haggard epitomizes what a true country singer should sound like. This may sound crazy but when I listen to Merle Haggard sing, I want to drink a beer. So many artists through the years list Merle as one of their musical influences and rightfully so. Back in the day there was Willie, Waylon, George Jones, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard. He ran with the country pack that was known as the outlaws of country music. He and Willie remain as the last two outlaws from that era.

One thing is for certain, when you hear Merle Haggard sing, you know who you are listening to. So many artists today sound so much alike it's hard to tell one artist from the other. Haggard and Jones were some of the pioneers of country music who paved a pathway to this new generation of country singers you hear today. In 1994 Haggard was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Haggard was the blue collar workin' man's country hero and sings directly to that hard workin' man with the song "Workin' Man Blues."

Other hits included "Mama Tried," "Silver Wings," "My Favorite Memory," "Big City," "I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink," "Are The Good Times Really Over" and one of my personal favorites his duet with Willie Nelson "Poncho & Lefty."

So, as they say in this business there will never be another Merle Haggard. Get your tickets now by going to Trahc.Org and do not miss Merle Haggard this Friday night in Texarkana.
