Trisha Yearwood may not remember what she was doing 27 years ago today (Sept. 10, 1994), but she was undoubtedly celebrating somewhere. On that date, her single "XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl)" landed at the top of the charts.

"XXX's and OOO's" was Yearwood's second No. 1 hit; her debut single, "She's in Love With the Boy," was the first. The song is from the country star's fourth studio album, Thinkin' About You, and was co-written by Matraca Berg and Alice Randall, who also co-wrote Yearwood's earlier single "Wrong Side of Memphis."

Yearwood performed "XXX's and OOO's" during the 1994 CMA Awards, when she was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. (Pam Tillis took home that year's honor.) The track, which did not earn favorable reviews when it was first released, stayed in the No. 1 spot for a total of two weeks.

Yearwood went on to score a total of five No. 1 hits. Her most recent single to reach the top of the charts was "Perfect Love," in 1998.
