A large festive crowd turned out for the fourth annual Jeans & Bling at Ramage Farms on Oct. 12 to benefit Hospice of Texarkana. The crowd danced the night away with live music from local band Split Decision. There was a performance form the the Pleasant Grove Showstoppers, a live auction headed up by auctioneer John Nutt and the highlight of the evening a couple's dance competition that raised additional money. The attendees got a special treat from Paul Mackey and Bethany Hanna as they performed a Swing and a Cha-Cha while the votes were being counted.

The Couple’s Dance Competition was won by Keith and Nikki Laing. Along with bragging rights, the Laing’s will be featured on the 2014 event poster.

In addition to all the activities a trip was raffled off and Marshall Moore won a Panama City Beach Condo trip.

The fourth annual Jeans & Bling event was blingier than ever, making just under $60,000 ($59,550) for Hospice of Texarkana’s Building on the Vision Campaign. Because of amazing support from sponsors and the community, the unique fundraiser has made $221,000 in four years.

All of the money made will stay local and benefit the medical needs of area families. Hospice cares for end-of-life patients of all ages in Texas in Bowie and Cass Counties and Miller, Hempstead, Little River, Lafayette, Sevier, Nevada, and Columbia counties in Arkansas.

Also,  money raised during the event takes them a step closer to building a freestanding Hospice House. They have already raised more than $2 million of the $5 million project.

I would like to say THANK YOU to Stefanie W. Brazile, Director of Development/PR and her entire staff for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful organization. They made my job as host of the event enjoyable and I look forward to next year. Stefanie exudes passion, dedication and professionalism for her job in every way. Hospice should be very proud to have her as the Director of Development.
