Arkansas Dust Devil Gets A Little Too Close For Comfort
THV11 in Little Rock posted this Arkansas Dust Devil on their YouTube page. Turned out to be a bit of a close call.
Dust Devils are not usually very dangerous, but sometimes they can get out of control in both strength and size.
As usual, it's not the wind itself that makes dust devils dangerous, but what the wind is kicking up, starting with dust, dirt, rocks, wood debris, trash, on up to tents and even people sometimes.
Dust Devils tend to not get as violent as tornados because they are not the same, tornados descend from the sky, and dust devils rise up from the ground.
We know it's tempting to stick your face in it, but you really shouldn't. Be warned if you do, a tree branch traveling at 60 - 80 mph can sure do some serious damage to anything it comes in contact with... that would include your face.
Let's be careful out there.
