Arkansas Celebrates Arbor Day with Free Tree Fridays
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is celebrating Arbor Day in a big way with their annual Free Tree Fridays campaign, giving Arkansans the chance to plant beautiful trees that will last for generations.
Through the program, bare-root seedlings will be handed out at locations across the state, encouraging everyone to get outside and plant native trees in their yards and communities.
Encouraging Growth Across Arkansas with Free Tree Fridays
The goal of Free Tree Fridays is simple: to promote tree planting and help keep Arkansas green and thriving. By offering these free seedlings, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture hopes to make it easy for everyone to take part, whether you’re planting your first tree or adding to your landscape.

Each person can receive up to five seedlings, making it a great opportunity for families, neighborhoods, and even classrooms to get involved.
Native Trees Available in 2026 at Arkansas Free Tree Fridays
This year’s selection of bare-root seedlings includes four native species that are well-suited for Arkansas soil and climate: pecan, sycamore, overcup oak, and Shumard oak.
Organizers say planting native trees not only beautifies the area but also supports local wildlife and helps strengthen the environment for years to come.
