This Red Flag Warning was put out by the National Weather Service (NWS) earlier today. As most of us already know, our area in Bowie and Miller Counties have been under a burn ban for weeks now. But this situation is even more dangerous. This is a massive area from Texas, Arkansas, a portion of Oklahoma, most of Louisiana, and extending through Mississippi.

This warning is in effect until early Saturday morning. The reason? Wind. We have really dry conditions, and now as this cold front comes through our area, if a fire did start, it would be very hard to contain it, let alone put it out.

The NWS stated in the forecast stated this warning is ..

A Red Flag Warning is issued when we identify weather conditions that
promote rapid spread of fire which may become life-threatening.

The Texarkana, Arkansas Fire Department posted on their Facebook page

TAFD asks for everyone to refrain from any activity that could create a fire during this time. Please report any fires immediately by calling 911, the faster we can get there limits the chance of it spreading.
