Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchison in a press conference this afternoon (April 6) made the announcement that all Arkansas public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year in order to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

According to KATV in Little Rock, Students should continue their school work online following the state's procedure on alternative measures in the instructional program. Schools have been closed in the state since March 15, and most recently, Hutchison extended that deadline to April 17.

Hutchison announced as of this afternoon there are 875 cases in Arkansas with 16 people who have died from the coronavirus. The good news is that at least 102 people have recovered.

As of Saturday, visitors from outside the state are being limited while the hotel industry and rental properties are limiting guests to only healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and other authorized personnel.
