Texarkana Awarded Preservation Grant Along with Other Communities Across Arkansas
The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP) has announced the recipients of the 2026–2027 Certified Local Government (CLG) grants, with 13 Arkansas communities receiving funding this year, and Texarkana is one of those communities!.

According to a press release, the CLG grants are awarded annually through the AHPP using funds from the federal Historic Preservation Fund. The funding supports projects that help communities preserve historic buildings, neighborhoods, and cultural landmarks while also providing training and resources for local preservation efforts.
The Certified Local Government program was created by Congress in 1980 to encourage communities across the country to take an active role in protecting their historic and architectural heritage.
Arkansas currently has 21 communities that participate in the program, giving them exclusive access to these grant opportunities as well as technical assistance and training through AHPP.
