The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has officially reopened its Shooting Sports Complex in Mayflower, Arkansas.

The shooting range was temporarily closed to update the range infrastructure and perform much-needed repairs. According to the AGFC, much of the work done was to improve features that increase safety at the range by adding 60-foot ballistic coverings to the sides. Officials hope this will help protect from possible ricochets from bad shots from the instructor-led program.

In addition, a berm-top baffle wall was rebuilt to help contain possible accidental discharges on the public pistol range. Some small improvements were made to the lobby of the range house including floor coverings, signs, and replacing two heating and air conditioning units.

The cost of improvements for the upgrades at the Arkansas Game and Fishing Commission Shooting Range was around $120,000, of which 75,000 will be reimbursed by the Wildlife Restoration Program.

The range is open to the public 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Wednesday-Sunday.
