If you have a lead foot, here is a heads-up for you. Arkansas Law Enforcement is out in full force, looking for people driving over the speed limit. From Wednesday, July 9 to Thursday, July 31, law agencies all across the state are teaming up for this high-visibility campaign called Speeding Slows You Down.

Campaign Details and Duration

You can expect to see an increase in patrol vehicles from not only the Arkansas State Police but also more patrols from local police departments and sheriff's offices, too.

The message is simple: speeding is dangerous and it can be fatal. Did you know that in 2024, 11,775 people died in speeding-related accidents across the country? In Arkansas, it is estimated that one out of every five traffic deaths last year was due to speeding.

The Dangers of Speeding

The faster you go, the longer your reaction time is, and it makes it harder to steer safely around other vehicles.

Arkansas Public Safety Secretary Colonel Mike Hagar said in a press release,

Speed limits are set to keep all road users safe.

Where to Expect Increased Enforcement

They aren't just talking about Arkansas Highways. They will be focusing on local roads. We are talking about roads in your neighborhood, school zones and rural roads. These smaller roads have a higher risk of fatalities. Did you know that?

Please slow down. It's not worth the risk of a ticket, and it is not worth the risk of injury or death to you or anyone else.
