Two Atlanta, Texas runaway juvenile teens were detained on Wednesday, February 18, near the Natchitoches-Winn Parish line in Louisiana around 5 AM after a single-vehicle accident on US-71 after crashing into a tree.

Car Crashes Into Tree in Louisiana

According to deputies with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, the two underage 13-year-old girls were traveling southbound on Highway 71, when the driver fell asleep at the wheel crossing the center line and leaving the road on the left side, through a ditch before crashing into a tree.

Non-Life-Threatening Injuries Reported

Deputies and EMS responders reported that one girl suffered minor injuries with non-life-threatening injuries, the girls were treated and released without transporting them to a hospital.

The unnamed driver was cited for Careless Operation of a Vehicle and driving without a driver's license. The juveniles told the deputies they were driving with no destination in mind. Both girls were taken to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office where they were released back into custody of relatives.

Louisiana State Police and deputies continue to investigate why the two alleged runaway 13-year-old girls were driving that early in the morning. Due to the girls being minors, no names were released.
