Arkansas Health Officials Issue Boil Water Advisory in Genoa
The Arkansas Department of Health has issued a Boil Water Notice for customers of the Miller County Public Water Authority (PWS 1141) due to a loss of water service.
Residents in Genoa, Arkansas, just East of Texarkana, are advised to boil all water before using it for consumption, including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing hands or faces, and making ice. Children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to harmful bacteria and should take extra precautions.
What Genoa Customers Should Do
To make water safe for use:
- Bring water to a vigorous rolling boil
- Continue boiling for two full minutes
- Allow the water to cool before use
As an alternative, customers may use bottled water or obtain water from another approved, safe source.
When Will the Notice Be Lifted?
The boil water notice will remain in effect until testing confirms the water is safe. Once lifted, customers will be notified through an official rescission notice distributed in the same manner as this alert.
Please Help Spread the Word
Residents are encouraged to share this notice with others who may not receive it directly, including those in apartments, schools, nursing homes, and businesses.
