Bowie County Joins National Effort to Recruit Poll Workers Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Bowie County Election Office is joining a nationwide effort to recognize and recruit election officials for their essential role in helping Americans vote.

Bowie County Joins National Help America Vote Day Effort

Ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, the US Election Assistance Commission (EAC) will host Help America Vote Day on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The annual observance highlights the importance of poll workers and encourages the community to consider serving in this critical role.

Poll Workers Play Key Role in Secure, Local Elections

The effort is part of the EAC’s long-running “Poll Workers Helping Americans Vote” initiative, raising awareness about how election workers support local communities, the democratic process, and secure elections nationwide.

“Poll workers are a critical part of our election process, and being a poll worker is one of the most meaningful and rewarding ways to help Americans vote,” said Pat McCoy, Bowie County Elections Administrator. “We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of local individuals who help their friends and neighbors navigate the voting process.”

Despite their importance, many election offices across the country continue to face challenges recruiting enough poll workers. Shortages can lead to fewer polling locations, longer lines, and increased voter confusion.

Bowie County Recruiting Poll Workers for Six 2026 Elections

Bowie County is currently seeking individuals interested in part-time work with the Election Office. Six elections are scheduled in the county during 2026, increasing the need for additional poll workers.
