Bowie County Sheriffs Deputy Shot to Death

A Bowie County Sheriffs Deputy is dead after a inmate who was in New Boston for a  hearing was able to rest a gun away and shot the deputy. Sheriff James Prince says the part-time deputy 54 year old Sherri Jones was transporting the suspect from the hearing when the incident occurred in the basement of the County Courthouse.

21 year old Tucker Strickland  of Wake Village, Texas  is said to have taken the transport van to Ashdown in Little River County Arkansas where he was later arrested. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
