Opening for Garth Brooks Was ‘Enlightening’ Experience for Chris Janson
Chris Janson had the incredible opportunity to open for Garth Brooks during the final night of the star's World Tour in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena, and the experience was like no other.
In Janson's words, it was "fantastic."
"It was one of the top three best shows I've ever been a part of in my life, not only because he's just such a gem, but his crew is amazing, too," he raves of Brooks, speaking to Taste of Country Nights. "And the crowd was fantastic, they were so into it and so respectful and such a music-listening crowd, which was a nice thing."
Janson made an impression on the arena of 20,000 fans — they lit up their phones for his moving performance "Drunk Girl," and it was a striking sight.
"They are for the music, it's fantastic," Janson continues. "It was very enlightening and I was proud to be a part of it."
The supporting acts for each of Brooks' seven shows were kept a secret until the night of, and Janson couldn't be more appreciative of the positive reception he was given. "Nobody knew until that night, so you know never know what kind of reaction you're going to get, but thankfully, his crowd was one in the same with me and they treated me with great respect and I very much appreciate that," he says.
It was the first time Janson had spent time with Brooks, and the country superstar lived up to high expectations. "He was everything that I heard he was, which was great," the "Holdin' Her" singer says.
Janson is currently on his Everybody Tour that wraps up with a sold-out show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on Feb. 5.
