Cinemark Texarkana Staying Closed Until Mid-Summer

The state of Texas may be re-opening on Friday, May 1, but movie theaters not so much. After Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced earlier this week that retail stores, theaters and restaurants could start opening up with a limited capacity of 25% this Friday. We were all happy to hear the announcement, but if you were looking forward to going to the movies, you'll have to wait a bit longer.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the website Deadline is saying that Cinemark and other big movie theater chains like ACM have decided to stay with their original plan and stay closed until mid-summer. Yes, that does include Cinemark here in Texarkana.

The reason? It's a little bit of a safety concern but the really big reason is... no new movies!

That's right, we've been hearing for the last month or so that movies were postponing their release dates. Well, now there's a lack of new movies. So many movies have gone straight to VOD, but, don't fret too much because there will still be plenty of time for those summer blockbusters to come out to enjoy in the theater.
