Craig Morgan has just released a new song in honor of his late son, Jerry, and in a new interview, the singer says Jerry gives him "little signs" that he's still with him.

Morgan's 19-year-old son died in a tubing accident near the family's home in a rural area outside of Nashville in July of 2016. Morgan remembers Jerry in his new single, "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost," and in an interview with Fox & Friends, he says the takeaway of the song is that while Jerry is not here, he's not gone.

"He might not physically be here, but his presence is felt," he says, via Jerry's family and friends and the scholarship that's been established in his name.

"And he gives me little signs all the time," he adds. "His [sports] number was 13, and literally, here a while back, I got out of the truck and there was 13 cents laying on the ground at my door. That's a Biblical thing, and I feel it."

The singer admits working on "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" was very difficult for him, and not necessarily something he wanted to do.

"It was very tough to write. It's tough to perform," Morgan tells Fox & Friends, adding, "In fact, it wasn't my choice to do this. It just happened. I had a very dear friend tell me, 'You must sing this song.' An Opry member told me that."

Morgan performed the new single on the Fox & Friends All-American Summer Concert Series on Friday (Aug. 30). Morgan wrote and produced "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost," which he is also releasing independently, and the song lays out how difficult life has been for Morgan and his family since Jerry's death, and how they are moving forward through their faith.

The 55-year-old country singer admits it's still difficult for him to talk about Jerry.

"We miss him every day. That's all we think about when we wake up and before we go to bed and throughout the day," he shares, adding that that pain is "never going to go away," but he and his family want to use their faith as an example to others to be strong and get through whatever it is that they are going through.

"I hope that through this song, I can encourage other people to stick with their faith and make it work," he states.
