Dan + Shay stepped outside the box for their "Tequila" video, offering a shot of something strong that'll hit you right in the heart.

The video follows the short, but sweet love story of a young female skier (played by Mica Von Turkovich) and a lone hiker she meets in the beautiful snowy mountains of Breckenridge, Colo. The hiker is Nyle DiMarco, a deaf actor and model.

Throughout the "Tequila" video the pair learn to communicate — DiMarco's character teaches Turkovich various words and phrases in sign language, one of which is his go-to beverage, tequila. What follows is a compelling journey as the two learn to break down the barriers between hearing and the world of silence in a way that's uplifting and engaging. Their story is cut short when DiMarco leaves to finish the rest of his trip solo, but there's a silver lining ending when he returns to the bar where sparks flew between the couple ... four years later.

The song and video have made a clear impact on Dan + Shay fans, with many praising the video for its inclusion of a prominent figure from the deaf community and incorporation of American sign language. Though the song is still climbing its way up the charts, fans are already fully committed to taking it to No. 1, based on a video the duo shared on Twitter of a packed crowd shouting every word back to them during a recent show. Singing the entire first verse and chorus, the crowd practically drowns out Shay Mooney before he lets them take over completely in the awe-inspiring moment.

"Tequila" is the first single off Dan + Shay's forthcoming album. It'll follow in the footsteps of 2016's Obsessed, which solidified the duo as one of the genre's most noteworthy rising acts, producing beloved hits "From the Ground Up" and "How Not To."
