Easter Sunday is April 5.  Many Americans will go to church, egg hunt and spend some quality time with family. One of my fondest memories growing up is going to my parent's house for Easter dinner. My mother would always go all out on that day and cook a great meal. And for us, Easter was also the celebration of our risen Lord.

I remember walking into the kitchen and smelling ham being cooked in the oven. The menu  usually consisted of ham, mashed potatoes with gravy, pinto beans, mac and cheese, green peas, and rolls. And for dessert coconut cake my dad's favorite or pecan pie. Man, I'm getting hungry just thinking about that! We would always have a feast and then afterwards we would head outdoors for a traditional Easter egg hunt and take pictures of the family. Easter was always a special time and I will always cherish those memories.

What do you normally eat on Easter Sunday? Or, do you go out to eat?

Here are a few food ideas that could be helpful in making your Easter special, too.

Thanks to the History Channel, here's a little history lesson on the Easter holiday.

May you and your family have a blessed Easter and happy eating!
