This Elementary School Is Now #1 In Math And Engineering In Texas

A big congratulations to Morriss Elementary School in Texarkana, as it has achieved a distinguished ranking in math and engineering. The elementary school has earned one of the top spots among more than 105,000 schools nationwide.

The school is now ranked #1 in Texas for math and engineering and third overall in the country by the U.S. News and World Report.

The School's Principal and Assistant Principal Could Not be Happier

According to the Texarkana Independent School District's Facebook page,

Principal Lauren Pilgreen expressed her immense pride in this achievement, attributing it to the dedication of their amazing students, staff, and supportive community.

Assistant Principal Samantha Evans told KSLA News,

For a small area like Texarkana to get that distinction, that’s amazing compared to bigger schools in the metropolitan areas.

 

What are the Rankings Based on?

The rankings were based on criteria including student proficiency in math and reading, state assessment results, and socioeconomic demographics. Morris Elementary earned a near-perfect score of 98 out of 100, showcasing its commitment to academic success.
