Genoa Central & Pleasant Grove Highlights Area Baseball Playoff Action

A State Championship is on the line this evening for the Genoa Central Dragons.The Dragons are in Fayetteville to take on Smackover in the Class 3A  Arkansas State Championship Game. First Pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.

Genoa Central beat this same Smackover team earlier this month. The Dragons have only lost 1 game all season, while winning 30 games. If they win this would be the first state title for Genoa.

Meanwhile the Pleasant Grove Hawks look to advance to the Regional Semi-Final with a win this evening in Kilgore over Mabank. The Hawks took game one of the best of three series last night 7-0.

Tonight's game starts at 7 p.m. in Kilgore. If a third game is necessary it will be played Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Lobo Field in Longview.

Also on the schedule tonight is game two of the regional quarterfinal series between Hughes Springs and Queen City which is being played at Tiger Field at Texas High in Texarkana. The Mustangs took game one beating Queen City 7-5 last night.

First pitch for tonight's contest  is slated for 7 p.m. with game three if necessary tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. also at Texas High.
