Get These 10 Items Out of a Hot Car in Arkansas Immediately
The scorching summertime temperatures in Arkansas are here and it's only going to get hotter in the coming days. Every year we're reminded of how dangerous the heat is to our bodies and pets but did you know leaving certain items in a hot car is extremely dangerous too?
In a short period, a temperature of 85 degrees outside can reach 119 degrees within 30 minutes inside a car with the windows rolled up. If the temperature is 100 degrees outside the temperature inside the vehicle could reach an unbearable 134 degrees, hot enough to kill you. So, please don't leave your pets or kids in the car, I know you hear this all the time but people still do it and that's just plain crazy, if you ask me.
10 Items You Should Never Leave In Your Car in the Summer
1. Batteries
The typical household battery expands in the heat and could leak or even explode.
2. Chemicals
Certain chemical and cleaning products could overheat and ignite.
3. Reading Glasses
Reading glasses, especially the plastic frames could melt and the lenses are like a magnifying glass and could start a fire if left on cloth seats or upholstery.
4. Cell Phones
It doesn't take long before a cell phone can overheat damaging your phone or worse exploding in your car.
5. Water Bottle
Those plastic water bottles are dangerous if left in a hot vehicle exposed to the sun, if left in the direct sun the water becomes like a magnifying glass and could ignite a piece of paper next to it if left in a cup holder.
6. Crayolas
They make look pretty but they make a mess in your car when they melt.
7. Flammable Liquid
Gasoline, lighter fluid, or anything flammable should never be left in your enclosed vehicle when it's extremely hot. Believe me, people do this all the time. Duh!
8. Canned Drinks or Bottles
Any carbonated beverage canned soft drinks or beer could explode not only would it be a sticky mess but you would have that new car beer smell.
9. Pressurized Containers
Aerosol spray, hair spray, and spray paint could overheat and ignite if exposed directly to the sun.
10. Medicine
While medicine doesn't explode the heat breaks it down and becomes less effective to use.
The summer heat in the South and Arkansas is relentless so the best anyone can do is to always be aware of the items you leave in your vehicle because this will make a difference in having a nice summer or not.
