A generous donation from a Little River County farmer is helping put fresh food on the tables of families across Southwest Arkansas and Northeast Texas, but Harvest Regional Food Bank needs volunteers to help make it happen.

Harvest Regional Food Bank recently received two acres of fresh corn and is asking for our community to lend a hand with harvesting the crop on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16.

Volunteers will meet at 8 AM each day at the Foreman rest stop located at the intersection of Highway 32 and Highway 41 before heading to the field. Harvesting will continue until noon, and even those who can only spare an hour or two can still make a big difference.

Harvest Helping Families Across the Region

The fresh corn will support Harvest Regional Food Bank's mission to fight hunger throughout our region. The organization serves 10 counties in Arkansas and Texas through a network of partner agencies, food distributions, senior programs, school programs, and summer feeding programs for kids, too.

Harvest Regional Food Bank works all year to feed the hungry and during the summer months, Harvest helps ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is out, making donations of fresh produce especially valuable.

Harvest Regional Food Bank CEO, Camille Wrinkle, said this annual donation of corn is distributed to 90+ food pantries across Harvest's 10-county region.

Wrinkle said in a press release,

We would never be able to harvest this much corn if we didn’t have a lot of help from the community each year, and the best part is knowing it is going to families who may not have access to fresh produce otherwise.

To sign up, call Harvest Regional Food Bank at (870) 774-1398 or email development@hrfb.org.
