Good Friday, Here are some stories making headlines today:

A pre-dawn accident in Southwest Arkansas involving an 18 wheeler has taken a life and injured another. The Miller County Sheriffs department and the Arkansas State Police responded to the accident prior to 5am at the Tourist Information Rest Stop east of Texarkana.

Authorities say the big rig overturned as the driver was exiting the interstate and entering the rest area. The driver whose name has not been released was killed and a passenger was injured an taken to a local hospital, her condition unknown.  No other vehicles were involved in the a accident which the investigation into continues.

A mistrial has been declared in a Miller County Arkansas murder trial after the jury deadlocked. Circuit Judge Joe Griffin declared the mistrial after the jury deliberated for almost 6 hours before announcing they could not reach a verdict in the case.

Alexander Jones was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 24 year old Shakiya Moore in the parking lot of a nightclub in Mandeville, Arkansas, which is located just east of Texarkana. The jury was given the option of considering first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter. Jones remains in custody while prosecutors consider whether to retry him or not.

A  monthly economic indicator fell slightly in March. But data released today continues to predict that the Midwest's economy will continue to grow in the next few months. The report covers 9 Midwest and Plains states including Arkansas.
