Texarkana Police K9 Teams Advance to Compete in National Trials
A couple of weeks ago the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and the Texarkana Texas Police Department hosted the Region 20 United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) trials in Texarkana.
25 K9 teams competed from all across Texas and Arkansas. You will be happy to know that Texarkana K9 teams did well, very well!
Some of the competitions included Obedience with off-lead healing, commands while walking, and distance control. They also competed in Criminal Apprehension which included apprehension of a fleeing suspect, holding the suspect and releasing them on command, plus recall and protection of their handler.
Texarkana's K9 teams did great! According to the Texarkana Texas Police Department Facebook page,
Thor was named the Top Dog. Thor and his handler, Officer Cole Bredenberg, also won 1st Place in the patrol competition and placed 5th with their performance in the narcotics detection category.
The great thing is they advanced to compete in both the patrol and narcotics National Trials that will be held later this year.
Also, Investigator Aaron Lewis and his K9 partner Absurd qualified for the narcotics National Trials and will be competing there too.
A big Congratulations to both of these officers and their amazing dogs!
