Employers added more than 200,000 thousand jobs in April for the third straight month the biggest hiring spree in five years. But the unemployment rate roase from 8.8% to 9%  partly due to the fact that more people are actually looking for work again now that the economy is improving.

The job gains were widespread. Retailers, factories, financial companies, education and health care and even construction companies all added jobs. Federal, state and local governments cut jobs.
