A&M-Texarkana Hires Tyler Parker as Basketball Coach

Texas A&M University-Texarkana has announced the hiring of Tyler Parker as the new head coach of the Eagle men's basketball program.

Parker comes to Texarkana with more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience and a track record of recruiting, player development, and program building at multiple levels of college basketball.

Director of Athletics Ryan Wall said in a press release,

As we continue our transition to NCAA Division II and prepare to compete in one of the premier conferences in the country, Tyler's experience, leadership, and vision make him an outstanding fit for our program

Extensive Coaching Experience

Parker spent three seasons at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) as Director of Player Development and Recruiting Coordinator under Head Coach Chris Beard. During his time there, he helped guide the program to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2025 NCAA Tournament while playing a key role in recruiting, player development, and transfer portal evaluations.

Before Ole Miss, Parker spent five seasons at the University of South Alabama, where he served as both Director of Basketball Operations and assistant coach. He was part of four consecutive winning seasons and helped develop several All-Sun Belt Conference players.

His coaching background also includes stops at Nicholls State, Shorter University, Faulkner University, and Crowley's Ridge College.

Looking Ahead

Parker said he is excited to lead Texas A&M-Texarkana's Basketball Program into the Lone Star Conference and the NCAA Division II,

The Lone Star Conference is one of the premier conferences in NCAA Division II, and I couldn’t be more honored to have our program competing at that level. I want to thank our President, Dr. Ross Alexander, and Athletic Director, Ryan Wall, for their trust in me and for the opportunity to lead this basketball program. I believe wholeheartedly in their vision for this university and the athletics department, and I’m ready to get to work.
