The National Weather Service has placed the Texarkana and Four States Area under a  *High Risk* designation for Severe Weather for later this afternoon and into the evening hours.  That means there is a High Probability of Severe Storms across the area.  This will include large hail, damaging winds and the possibility of violent, powerful, and long track tornadoes across the area.  Texarkana is currently in the middle of the High Risk area.

We encourage you to keep a battery powered radio tuned to this station for the very latest on watches and warnings as the afternoon and evening progresses. There is also a Flash Flood Watch in effect thru tonight for the potential of flash flooding from very heavy rains expected with these severe storms.

Bowie County officials are reviewing Courthouse security issues following the tragic shooting death of Deputy Sherri Jones last week . A committee has been set up by County Judge Sterling Lacy would identify weaknesses in both security and other areas as well. 

Jones was shot to death by 21 year old Tucker Strickland, a psychiatric patient who was in New Boston for a hearing. Strickland who was not handcuffed had asked to be let out of the caged van to use the rest room when he allegedly attacked Jones, took her weapon and  shot her to death before fleeing the transport van. Jones was the only deputy transporting the inmate.

The Texarkana Area  Razorback Club is having its annual meeting tonight at 6:30 pm at the Four States Fair Entertainment Center. The special guest speakder for this years event is brand new University of Arkansas Head Basketball Coach Mike Anderson.  Barbecue will  be served and there will plenty of activities including meeting Coach Anderson.

Tickets are on sale until 5 pm today at all Mil-Way Federal Credit Union locations: Arkansas Boulevard, West 7th street near Wake Village and in Ashdown, Arkansas. Tickets will also be available at the door for tonights banquet.
