Maren Morris, Pat Green + More Remember Kylie Rae Harris for Her Voice and Beauty
Maren Morris and Kylie Rae Harris go way back. Upon learning of the 30-year-old Texas singer's death, the "Girl" singer turned to Instagram to share her grief and send well-wishes to the family.
Both Morris and Harris are both from northeastern Texas, and they crossed paths at festivals many years ago. The 29-year-old singer of "The Bones" remembered the "Twenty Years From Now" singer as sweet and supportive.
"Your soulful voice and Texas beauty was always jaw-dropping, even when we were teenagers at the Larry Joe Taylor festival," Morris shared with a photo of Harris on Instagram stories on Thursday (Sept. 5). "Thinking of your family and your precious baby girl right now. Rest in peace."
Harris died in a three-car crash on Wednesday (Sept. 4) in Taos, N.M., where she was scheduled to play the Big Barn Music Festival the next day. She kept in touch with fans via social media during a long road trip to get there, ultimately revealing how special the area was to her in a series of her own Instagram story messages. She said that most of the people she was close to had lived and died in the area.
One other person, a 16-year-old driver of a second vehicle, was killed in the accident. The driver of a third vehicle was uninjured. Few details about the crash or cause have been released, but local news outlets say alcohol could have been a factor.
Other country singers who shared a kind word about Harris include Pat Green, Josh Abbott and Randy Rogers, who told Taste of Country, "She was a great person, and she made everybody feel welcomed and loved and cared for. She was a really bright shining light."
