Egg Recall Impacts Grocery Stores Across Texas & Arkansas

If you recently bought eggs at a Super 1, Brookshire's, or Kroger, you may want to check your refrigerator.

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. has voluntarily recalled more than 1.5 million dozen shell eggs produced in Texas because they may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, a bacteria that can cause serious illness.

Eggs Sold at Super 1/Brookshire's and Kroger

The recalled eggs were produced between June 6 and July 3, 2026, with sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20 through August 17, 2026.

The eggs were sold at Super 1/Brookshire and Kroger Grocery stores in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico and Mississippi, and other smaller retail outlets.

If you shop at Super 1 Foods, they are owned by Brookshire and carries many of the Brookshire-branded items, including eggs.

Check the Carton Code

Consumers should look for these identifying codes printed on the side of the egg carton:

• Plant Code: P-1950 or 0840962
• Julian Date: 157 through 184

Only eggs with both the listed plant code and Julian date are included in the recall.

What You Should Know

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps. While most healthy people recover without treatment, young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of serious illness.

At this time, Midwest Poultry Services says it is not aware of any illnesses linked to the recalled eggs.

Anyone with recalled eggs should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
