
Miller County Shooting Investigation Leaves One Dead, Suspect in Custody
A shooting in Miller County on Friday afternoon has left one man dead, and authorities say a suspect is now in custody.
According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 1:30 PM Friday, May 22, to reports of shots fired on Coca Cola Lake Road in Genoa, Arkansas.

When deputies arrived, they found Clay Walker suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts until Pafford EMS arrived at the scene.
Suspect Located After Fleeing the Scene
During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Joseph Richardson of Texarkana.
Officials say Richardson fled the scene before deputies arrived. However, Deputy Hutchens was able to review dash camera footage and reportedly spotted the suspect’s vehicle while heading to the scene. After obtaining the license plate number, a BOLO was quickly issued.

It didn't take long; Richardson was found and was taken into custody by the Texas Department of Public Safety. He is currently being held in Bowie County pending extradition to Miller County.
Miller County Sheriff’s Office Extends Condolences
Authorities said Walker unfortunately died from his injuries.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to Walker’s family and thanked Pafford EMS, Texas DPS, Texas Game and Fish, Texarkana Child Advocacy Center, Christus St. Michael emergency staff, and other agencies that helped during the investigation.
